Fertility is complex, emotional, and deeply personal. Whether you’re trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IVF or egg freezing, or navigating recurrent miscarriage, you deserve care that sees your whole story — not just your test results.
At A D Acupuncture in South London, we specialise in TCM acupuncture for fertility, offering a comprehensive, root‑focused approach that supports hormonal balance, menstrual health, ovarian function, sperm quality, and emotional wellbeing.
Fertility Acupuncture in London
Acupuncture is of most benefit when delivered in the months leading up to, and throughout the IVF process (Aquilina&Bovey, 2019). As a cumulative medicine, the effects compound over time. Therefore if you are planning to start IVF in the coming months, now is the time to investigate using acupuncture. Our practitioners will also work closely with you in this prep phase to optimise your diet and lifestyle for fertility treatment.
However, at A D Acupuncture, we see patients starting treatment with us at various stages in their journey and we are always happy to help. Unfortunately there are no guarantees in the world of fertility but we can promise to support and empower you.
Who do we work with?
We work with both couples and individuals looking to build their family or preserve their fertility. We are experienced working with couples and individuals using sperm or egg donors. Every form of family building is welcome. Whatever has led you to wanting to learn more about your fertility, our acupuncture clinic can help you along your journey.
Why choose A D Acupuncture for your Fertility Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the most commonly used adjunct therapies to fertility treatment, with many clinics and consultants recommending acupuncture within fertility care. It’s use is growing, as it the expertise.
At A D Acupuncture, this is what we do. we work closely with many individuals navigating a fertility journey. We support you at every stage, helping our patients to know when and how to investigate further if needed.
We have strong working relationships with leading fertility clinics, Consultant Gynaecologists and Embryologists across London. All our acupuncturists have postgraduate training in fertility acupuncture and are members of the Acupuncture Fertility Network. Our approach to treatment provides comprehensive support for patients navigating fertility treatment and reproductive challenges.

Acupuncture and IVF
Acupuncture within the IVF process is well documented to have a significant treatment effect in improving the birth rates of sub-fertile women undergoing IVF or ICSI, with over 30% of UK patients using acupuncture alongside IVF (Xi, 2018)(HFEA, 2022). Treatment supports:
Follicular development
Egg maturation
Endometrial receptivity
Uterine blood flow
Medication side effects
And emotional wellbeing.
Alice has personally conducted research on acupuncture within the IVF process, working closely with Dr Srividya Seshadri. This work means A D Acupuncture stays up to date with the very latest in IVF developments as well as acupuncture research.

Yes — when performed by a fully trained TCM acupuncturist.
Unlike medical acupuncture or dry needling, TCM practitioners undergo degree‑level training and understand how to treat safely throughout your fertility journey.
We always work gently, safely, and in alignment with both traditional knowledge and modern evidence.
-
Many people use acupuncture alongside IVF, ICSI, or egg‑freezing cycles. It may help support blood flow, regulate the nervous system, improve sleep, and reduce stress during stimulation and transfer phases.
-
Acupuncture may support hormonal regulation, circulation, stress reduction, and overall reproductive balance — all of which can be relevant in recurrent miscarriage. It also offers emotional steadiness during a deeply challenging time.
Our practitioners are also well equipped to support onward signposting and referrals.
-
You can start fertility acupuncture at anytime.
Eggs and sperm develop over several months, so changes often happen gradually. Many people find that a 3 month window is a helpful timeframe to support hormonal balance, cycle regularity, and reproductive health.
Evidence shows that starting acupuncture ahead of an IVF cycle is most effective however many patient start mid treatment and still see amazing benefit.
-
